NFAIS serves as the trade group for providers of online database services that aggregate, organize and facilitate access to published information. In other words, the vendors of all the databases your library will ever use are members of this association. From their website: "It is a partnership of government, nonprofit and commercial organizations – all sharing a common mission of improved access to, and use of, information."

This is an excellent opportunity for us to learn more about an industry that we all rely on and that may also be a potential job market for librarians. Ms. O'Neill will also be discussing the NFAIS annual conference taking place here in Philadelphia in February. They are looking for student volunteers to help at the conference and will provide them with excellent networking opportunities.
